Madame Pompadour was a member of the French court at Versailles and the official mistress to King Louis XV from 1745-1751. Includes interesting comments relating to French presence in Canada and their conflict with the British. It is not clear if the authorship is truly Madame the Pompadour. An uncommon early reprint of this famous memoir first published a few years earlier in 1766.
