Photograph of first woman voter in New York state as she casts her ballot. Press photo. Silver gelatin print. 8 x 10 in. Image of Mrs. C.W. Rogers, the first woman to vote in New York after the state granted women the right to do so in 1917. Mrs. Rogers is seen staring directly at the camera as she hands her ballot over. Her husband is standing behind her waiting for his turn to vote. Very good condition, faint scratches on photograph and small stains, “s237914” written on right side of photo, but subjects of photo are not affected. Historic photo capturing the first woman to vote in the United States’ most populous state, two years before the 19th Amendment passed, granting the right to vote to all women in the US. These original press photo taken by photojournalist within tight timeframe for the benefit of particular editorial board and with the aim of usage by the press to illustrate an article often affected public opinion in the nation.
