The First Female Aviator Signs a Photo of Herself and Her Plane

ISP - Inscribed Signed Photo

SCOTT, Blanche. Black and white photo Signed and Inscribed by Blanche Scott, the first female aviator. Depicting Scott in her plane, the photo measures approximately 8x12", has minor fading to the bottom corners, and is overall in very good condition. Later print photo, in her hand in blue ink Scott writes: "..First Solo in the air September 9, 1910. Blanche Stuart Scott." With increased access to training in mechanics and engineering, women with a similar pioneering spirit left the land for the air to become aviators. These women oversaw the development, maintenance, and flight of cutting edge technology. In 1910, Scott set records as the second woman to drive cross-country; and in the same year she obtained a pilot's license and became the very first woman to fly a plane. Her pioneering spirit motivated the next generation of women and girls to explore the skies, as famed aviator Amelia Earhart sited Scott as an inspiration. A fine photo fit for display, and depicting the pioneering spirit of women.
