Mozaffar ad-Din Shah Qajar, ruled Iran (which most people outside Iran then called “Persia”) from 1896 until his death in 1907. Like his father, Nasr al-Din Shah, Muzaffar al-Din Shah visited Europe three times and even borrowed money from Nicholas II of Russia to pay for his travel expenses. The events of his trops are recorded in his travel diaries. Mozaffar al-Din opulent European trips were during the turn of the century. The last year of Mozaffar al-Din’s life coincided with the start of Iran’s 1905-1907 Constitutional Revolution.
