Historic WWII Newspaper War Extra. Los Angeles Examiner, August 8, 1945. 13.5" by 10.5." Large, bold headline, "ATOM BOMB BELIEVED TO HAVE LEVELED CITY." Also has two small front page photos of Dr. Lize Meitner and Dr. Neils Bohr who fled Europe during WWII and had developed nuclear fusion that made the atomic bomb possible. This was an extra printed on that day due to the extreme importance of the news of the atomic bomb dropping that could not wait for the next morning. Not much detail was just available at the time of this printing. In very good condition.Item #14380
