With 2 fold out color maps, one of which titled "The War Against Japan - The War Against The Pacific", it shows the Allied advances, allied air attacks, and also the atomic bomb target. On second page, Van Kirk writes in part entirely in his hand: "..Basic U.S. strategy contemplated an invasion of Japanese home islands. This was avoided by dropping the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, and saving the lives of all the American and Japanese that would have died in the planned invasion of the Japanese home islands...The capacity to destroy given control of the air and adequate supply of atomic bombs is beyond question.." Signed "Theodore Van Kirk - Navigator Enola Gay - August 6, 1945." In very good condition.
